NOTE: it is critical to replace the VELcap with a new VELcap after each patient; always discard the used one. As with other items in your operatory, the VELcap is not designed for multiple uses.
o   VELcaps should be disposed after each patient, as it is not possible to effectively clean them.
o   Even if a VELcap does not make contact with a patient, it is susceptible to contamination from airborne pathogens.
o   VELcap optical properties deteriorate when cleaned or disinfected, negatively affecting screening efficacy.
